Bontrager Foray gloves

Bontrager know a thing or two about making gloves that fit properly, and the Forays are a great example of this. That’s not to say they’re without faults though.

While Bonty’s Rhythm gloves get thin silicone strips on the index and middle finger, they’ve been a touch more liberal with the glossy synthetic rubber here, covering most of the fingers and some of the palm with a thick coating. The abundance of silicone print on the palm means that if your grips get wet, the Forays can feel really slippery, making you grip that bit harder to keep control of the bar.

When the heavens opened, it was a battle to keep at least our braking fingers dry enough to stop them slipping on the levers constantly. This could be unnerving, especially when knackered at the end of a ride. It’s a real shame, because in the dry the Forays had become a go-to glove for us thanks to the thin palm, stretchy, hand-hugging upper and super-comfy fit.
