Race Face Respond stem

SO GOOD:
The Respond is Race Face’s ‘beer budget’ heavy-duty stem. Made from forged 6061 aluminium alloy, it certainly feels built for action.

The clever interlocking bar clamp transfers loads away from the faceplate bolts and through the stem itself. The torque settings are much higher than for the other stems on test and, combined with the 5mm bolts, this helps keep the steering solid and flex free. The 10-degree rise is useful if you want to raise your bar height a little.

NO GOOD:
At 194g for the 45mm length we tested, it’s veering towards the portly. The finish is basic and the ‘busy’ graphics won’t be to everyone’s liking.

PRICE 73$
