Ritchey WCS Trail stem

AT 123G THIS is among the lightest stems on test, but because the traditional four-bolt faceplate is fairly wide and the steerer clamp is moderately tall it still delivers plenty of stiffness. Ritchey have specced 4mm bolts throughout.

The maximum torque recommendation on the steerer bolts is just 5Nm, which will allow the stem to twist in a crash, but we went a little tighter without experiencing any issues. The handlebar clamp is an unusually tight fit and you need to use a worrying amount of force to push a bar in. It also scored the finish of our test bar slightly when we were setting our preferred bar roll and creaked loudly as we tightened the faceplate bolts (evenly). For this reason we’d be reluctant to use this stem with a new bar.

CANYON NERVE AL 8.0

SPECIALIZED P.STREET 2

If you’re after a really well priced and well sorted complete bike package for jump, street and even better-groomed trail centre action then the P.Street is outstanding. Its rock solid responsiveness and short-stroke fork make it seriously unforgiving on rougher trails though.
