Race Face Charge Sub-Zero knee pads

THE CHARGE SUB-ZEROS are pretty much the same as Race Face’s standard, minimal Charge knee guards, just a bit warmer. Underneath the stretchy Kevlar knee cover sits a thin layer of foam that, although unlikely to protect you from much more than gravel rash, does mean your knees aren’t fully exposed.

The sleeve itself gets a micro-fleece type lining, which does a great job of keeping your knees and a decent part of your shins warm. Comfort is right up there with the best – with no bulky padding or awkward straps to worry about, they feel more like knee warmers than conventional pads, which is great if that’s what you’re after.

Even when working hard, our test guards never fell down. The only real issue is that for half of the year these are going to be too warm to ride in.
