Bontrager Lithos helmet

The Lithos helmet from Bontrager not only looks good for the money, it performs on the trail too.

Getting the fit right is easy thanks to the large, indexed dial in the centre of the retention cradle. If it still doesn't feel quite right it's easy to alter the pitch of the lid by moving the cradle up or down until it sits just nght

It's nice and comfy on the trail - something thats helped by the well positioned, sweat wicking padding and decent 340g weight. Airflow is impressive thanks to the 19 large vents and deep channelling, which meant we never had any issues with overheating, even on long protracted climbs.

The in-mould design means the outer shell wraps around the bottom of the EPS liner protecting it from everyday scrapes and knocks. You can adjust the angle of the peak by 10 degrees and thankfully it’s fixed tightly enough that it doesn't flap about once you've tweaked it.

KONA SHRED

With a reputation for no-nonsense ruggedness and a background in the always progressive and punishing riding of Canada, Kona have been building hardcore hardtails for longer than almost anyone else. The Shred is the most expensive bike on test but it’s a proper trail tank.
