THE WORLD HAS gone action camera crazy in recent years, and with no signs of the trend slowing down, more and more brands are popping up, offering new features that increase the possibilities of what these handy little contraptions can do.

The XCEL HD takes a similar approach to the market leading GoPro, with a compact (6x4.3x4cm) boxy camera body, clear waterproof housing and an array of different mounting options. It can shoot in 1,080 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second or 480p at 60fps, has a 5 megapixel stills mode and a choice of wide angle or ‘ultra wide’ field of view. The camera comes with a useful wi-fi remote too.
