iXS SCUL Backcountry jersey

ANOTHER TECHNICAL BIKE T-shirt, the SCUL is made from a lightweight stretchy mesh and has a boxy cut that’s baggily comfortable on the bike.

The material doesn’t feel too horribly synthetic and on warm spring rides we found it to wick sweat away efficiently and then dry quickly too. It does get somewhat smelly though, encouraging you to make use of the hanging loop to air it off should you wish to dodge a wash between rides.

There’s a glasses wipe and small zipped pocket plus a taped neck seam, making it a well featured and well made jersey for the money. If you favour unfussy styling and a more natural fabric feel but need your top to still work hard, then this is definitely one to consider.

Gusset Magnum stem

SO GOOD Gusset’s 50mm stem is nicely CNC machined from 7075 alloy and the faceplate and internal steerer clamp are available in a range of five anodised colours to complement the black body. The hidden steerer clamp keeps sharp edges to a minimum and removes stress from the body of the stem. Out on the bike, the stem proved flex free and bombproof.
