absoluteBLACK XX1 Style chainring

THE MARKET IS now flooded with single chainrings that ape the chain-hugging narrow/wide tooth profile debuted on SRAM's X-SYNC ring, and for good reason - the design works brilliantly.

We've been using this absoluteBLACK ring for six months, in combination with a clutch rear mech but no chain guide, and haven't lost a chain once, despite using it on both a full-sus and a hardtail, and tackling everything from uplift days to full-day XC rides. The CNC machined XXI Style ring is claimed to be the lightest on the market and it's certainly minimal looking, with its scalloped sides and total lack of branding. It's wearing well too despite its pared-down construction. The bolt holes aren't offset, so you may need spacers to avoid chain rub in the larger sprockets. There are cheaper options out there too, though we can't yet vouch for their durability.

PRICE 65$ (32t, 104mm BCD)
