THE Hermes Lo-Top shoes

WITH ITS PROTECTED laces and big mid-foot cross strap, the Hermes is an instantly secure shoe. The minimally perforated synthetic leather upper is usefully splash/showerproof and the shoes dry fast if they do get wet.

The tall heel can be uncomfortably sharp on your Achilles for the first few rides. Getting lace tension right is crucial for forefoot comfort too. THE’s claims of ‘ultra stiffness’ aren’t trail proof either, with noticeable sole flap and pressure hot-spots with non-platform clipless pedals.

The DZR sole works well with flat pedals though and gives plenty of traction feedback as long as your feet don’t go numb. Pricing is reasonable for the sturdy construction too, though the weight may be an issue for some.
