Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduro IV shoes

PEARL’S EVOLVED X-ALP sole is flexible enough in the right places for rock scrambling and even gets a trainer style EVA cushioning layer for extended walking/running comfort. The Enduro IVs are still stiff enough that you’ll think you’re wearing a mid-range race shoe when you power kick on climbs though.

The soft rubber outsole offers decent scuff protection and all-weather grip, while the twin Velcro and single ratchet strap fasteners give a secure, pedalling-friendly fit without digging in off the bike. There’s an all-black option too.

Mesh windows right down to sole level mean soggy feet even in the shallowest puddle though, and the deep, cushioned sole won’t suit riders who like to gauge grip through their feet.
