Marzocchi 380 C2R2 TI Fork

MARZOCCHI’S ALL-NEW 380 C2RC Titanium downhill fork was developed with input from their World Cup riders and engineers with the aim of delivering a top-tier product for the most demanding terrain and levels of competition.

With weight saving at the core of the design process, the new 200mm (7.9in) travel fork comes in at just 2.84kg. The left leg houses a titanium coil spring, while the right contains the new Dynamic Bleed Cartridge, which, according to Marzocchi, combines the best bits of the sealed cartridge design and the open bath system that the brand are synonymous with.

The nickel-coated 38mm stanchions only add gravitas to the flat black paint job and red decals, making the 380 every part the race-ready product.

But with mates like World Cup downhiller Brendan Fairclough, he also likes to get up to speed in the hills, where he's been introducing the Collosus to some colossal jumps, gaps and drops.

CANYON NERVE AL 8.0

S ince their entry into the UK market a few years ago, Canyon have made a name for themselves as purveyors of well-made bikes that exhibit often extraordinary value. Cannondale Trail SL 29 SS

The fat aluminium tubes are a constrast to the skinny items seen elsewhere in the test, but this rigid Cannondale uses them to create one of the most old-school - and lightest - rides here.
