THESE WINTER GLOVES from O'Neal use a thin, insulated palm that doesn't feel too bulky when gripping the bar and doesn't get in the way of shifting gears or braking.

There's next to no bunching either, thanks to the decent fit and minimal bulk. The windproof and water resistant backing does a great job of keeping your hands warm even on really cold, wet days. If it's really pouring with rain the O'Neals will keep the wet out for a while, but before long things will start getting pretty damp. That said, they'll still keep you warm. Not everyone will like the lairy graphics though.

COMMENCAL EL CAMINO 3

Commencal are going from strength to strength at the moment and they’ve taken their tough trail hardtail bang up to date with 650b wheels. With its skinny rims, crankset and fork, the El Camino certainly isn’t perfect and it’s the least hardcore bike here. The handling, smoothness, speed and all-round agility of the basic bike still make it a real blast for technical trail riding though, and it’s a great base for upgrading over time.
