Formula T1 brakes


FORMULA’S ‘THE ONE’ set new standards when it arrived and while it’s not as user friendly as some, it’s still a super-powerful lightweight option at a newly reduced price.

The T1 shares its lever with the minimalist R1 race brake, which helps keep total weight below 400g. But the big 24mm pistons mean power is still very much in the DH league.

The lever shape, plus some bleeding and set-up niggles, means Formula enthusiasm varies among our test team, but if you like the softer feel there’s no doubting the excellent level of modulation on offer.

The SpeedLock hose-splitting option is useful for internal routing, and a 55$ price drop makes the T1s competitive on cost. As with the ROs, we’d advise buying just the brakes (341$) and getting discs elsewhere.
